25.10.12 CAS event - Iain Andrews artist talk, 25.10.12. 18:30 - 20:30
Manchester-based artist Iain Andrews has created a series of paintings (under the collective title of ‘Mythopoeia’) in direct response to some of the historic works on show at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery. In collaboration with the writer Joanne Reardon Lloyd, Andrews has developed a unique approach and style to interpret the works and explore the stories they tell:
“Stories need to be retold again and again by each new generation that receives them and, as they are retold, narratives inevitably put down roots and throw out branches in unexpected directions. This is a small collection of those roots and branches, a series of new paintings and short stories that take their inspiration from, and collaborate with, the museum’s permanent collection of works of art in order to lead the audience off on new and unexpected paths.”
Join the Contemporary Art Society for the chance to hear Iain Andrews and Joanne Reardon Lloyd discuss ‘Mythopoeia’.
After graduating from the University College of Wales (Aberystwyth) with a BA in Fine Art in 1996 and an MA in Painting in 1998, Andrews received a PG Dip in Art Psychotherapy from Sheffield University in 2000. He is represented by London-based gallery Man&Eve and in 2011 was a finalist in the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the first prize winner of the Marmite Painting Prize.
